For Each New Day by Helen Steiner RiceThis was great, you could have a scripture reading each day and a word of encouragement to go with the scripture..
It is a quick easy way for a quick faith builder when you need in in the midst of a very busy schedule... I was stressed and read 10 pages, and by the time I got to the tenth, my stress was gone. Remember God loves you and wants to protect you, So seek that small haven and be guided by prayer to that place of protection within God's loving care. Every word of God proves true, He defends all who come to him for protection. Prov 30:5, Today seek safety and secutiry in God's everlasting arms. Just one small example of one page or day...

The Foundations of Early Modern Europe 1460-1559 (The Norton History of Modern Europe)
Published in Paperback by W.W. Norton & Company (February, 1994)
Average review score:

Succinct yet insightful, scholarly yet readable. A classic.Rice's work is a superb short survey of the technology and ideas that created our modern world. Despite the high level of scholarship, the text is eminently readable with a graceful, lucid style that successfully walks the tightrope of summarizing without oversimplifying. The chapter on the impact of the invention of printing is alone worth the price of the book. Excellent illustrations and maps throughout, and the typeface is exquisite. I read this book twenty years ago for a college history course and recently reread it in the second edition. An unparalleled account of the early modern period and undoubtedly on its way to becoming a modern classic.

From The Land Of Glee, Xanthie And Zaybar Make New Friends
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Small World Publishing (17 May, 2001)
Average review score:

From The Land of Glee-Xanthie and Zaybar Make New FriendsI loved this little book! Very gentle, positive message without being condescending. The art work is beautifully done, I found myself gazing at each illustration (pictures of things Xanthie and Zaybar encounter) and wondering if I can find other works by this talented artist. Read aloud to your child or grandchild, point out the wonderful pictures and wait for the further adventures of these two delightful young creatures. For myself I'll have to order a few more copies for the children I know- my copy is staying right here!

Gaston Goes to Mardi Gras
Published in Unknown Binding by Pelican Pub Co (February, 2001)
Average review score:

Mardi Gras Fun for All!This colouring book version of James Rice's Mardi Gras classic, "Gaston Goes to Mardi Gras," is fun for the whole family. It can be used as a way to explain some of your family's traditions, or to prepare children for a family trip. The pictures can be coloured, cut out and used for party decorations. The story reminds me of my childhood, and the Carnivals of days gone by. Rice presents a short, but comprehensive overview of Carnival, and the major krewes, balls, and parades. I highly recomend this book.

Gems of Inspiration

Gems of InspirationAt the break of day, nothing lifts the spirit better than a good cup of freshly brewed coffee and a positive word to set the stage. Daily we face trials, but with the inspiring words of Helen Steiner Rice, she brings forth words of encouragement to lift the spirit.
Each page contains a four line verse revealing her heart. The rest of the page is just yearning for you to capture your thoughts within this beautifully bound book.
For many, journaling is a way of healing. What better way to heal and grow than with one so positive in the choice of words by Helen Steiner Rice. I closed the page on one book and I am eager to continue on to book number two.
God Bless and may her words inspire you in your daily walk of life.

God's Foreknowledge & Man's Free Will
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (November, 1985)
Average review score:

Honest look at implications, of omniscience and immutabilityThis book honestly looks at the meaning, implications and ramifications of the traditional view of God's omniscience and immutability. The philosophical and practical difficulties that arise out of the traditional view are demonstrated. Rice then offers a new view: The open view. I found his arguments to be persuasive, yet not completely compelling. The open view, while allowing for God's soverignty is also able to accomodate man's freedom. He also examins the ramifications of the open view for creation, providence, predestination, prophecy, the problem of evil and others. This book, I think really finds a compromise in the Calvinian/Arminian debate. It is also written in a nontechnical style which any person with a mere superficial understanding of the issue can appreciate.

The Gods of Mars
Published in Hardcover by Indypublish.Com (May, 2002)
Average review score:

Among the greatest adventure stories everAlthough best known for his Tarzan adventures, the Martian books were perhaps Edgar Rice Burroughs best series. And this was the best of the series. The first book, A Princess of Mars, introduced the hero, John Carter. This book far surpassed it in pacing and plot. Although most suitable for boys ages 12-15, it can be enjoyed by all.
